2025 Race Season is in the books!
We are so proud of all of our racers this year! We saw so many new faces at the beginning of the year that quickly became ohana. We saw so many returning faces that welcomed everyone coming in for the first time. The race teams we saw come together worked so hard to learn together, to improve together, to train together, and to have a great time together were inspiring and fuels us on for the next season.

Mahalo everyone, you are BOO!

IMUA BOO!

Racing outrigger canoes is truly the sport of kings - a tradition carried on for thousands of years, we are honored to be apart of.

We want everyone to get the chance, if they want, to experience the exhilarating thrill of racing.

In order to be considered for a race crews, we require
-
Regular Attendance at Practices - we understand life happens, but consistency is key and dedication to improvement is a core value here
-
All Dues Paid Prior to Race Day - if there is an inability to pay, please speak to a coach or board member and we will work with you
-
Coachability - being willing to improve also means taking input from our coaches and being willing improve body mechanics and paddling technique
-
Team-minded - we paddle together, we work together, we encourage each other, we grow together - period. Everyone helps move the canoe, everyone helps rig, clean the canoe, and care for each other.
-
Behavior - at practice and on the water. We share the river and must show respect to all.
-
Physical - strength, endurance, and technique.
-
Race experience - more of an important consideration for some races, mostly for safety reasons.
-
Time trials, if necessary - if we have multiple people vying for a seat on the race crew, we will have them paddle a set distance on the same OC1 to determine the faster paddler. This is one of the last considerations, as team chemistry, ability to blend, and other factors are the first considered.
-
Other considerations may have to be made to comply with class qualifications and host race criteria.
Racing with BOO
2025 Race Season is in the Books!
da Grind was a grind indeed

For our last race off the season, da Grind was definitely a highlight! We sent a men’s and a women’s crew for the second time this year. We had the honor of borrowing canoes from Bellingham Bay Outrigger Paddlers and Kikaha o ke Kai who were kind enough to loan their beautiful canoes to our teams. We are proud of both our crews who traveled the distance, trained hard for the race, and showed up to show what BOO is made of.
the Gorge Race last hoo-rah!

Ohana, this one is an emotional one. This year, there were only two spec canoes registered in the Gorge race…both of them were ours. One we loaned out to PDX Va’a (who are AWESOME btw) and one our own crew paddled. We sent a mixed crew to the Gorge this year, as we have done through multiple past years. This might have been the last hoo-rah for spec canoes in the Gorge race.

Our crew did us proud - beating last year’s time by 1 minute, we came in with Unlimited canoes surrounding us instead of other spec canoes - our paddlers fought for every inch of water and did us proud. Imua BOO!
Rooster Rock, baby!

Rooster Rock was the first time in over 5 years that BOO send a men’s and a women’s crew to a race. We also had a short course crew compete. In total, we had 15 people participating in the Rooster Rock race, and everyone CRUSHED it! We are so proud of every single paddler - everyone worked hard to show up, and show up we did! Keep pushing forward, we will keep showing up. Mahalo BOO ohana!
RATI is in the bag for BOO

Congrats to our long course crew who came home with 1st place, and our short course crew who made RATI history!
Congrats to our Rusty Iron Crew

Our short course crew brought home 1st place in their division, and our long course crew brought in 2nd!

The season is young, IMUA BOO!
